Frequently Asked Questions
Coaching:
Paul Lea is the Club Trainer and Director of Coaching.
What will happen with the BASL Recreational Soccer League?
Absolutely nothing. The league will still be held at Osborne Park as it always had, there will be no fee increases, and the length of the season will not be impacted.
What will change with the travel program?
Our goal is to grow the travel program into one of the top clubs in North Central Ohio. The most obvious change will be the name of the program from Sandusky Bay United to Ohio Storm FC. Fees will be reinvested into the club in the form of:
Are there payment plans available?
Yes. We are offering several payment plans for each season for Ohio Storm FC. 3, 6 and 10 payment options to spread the payments out over the year.
Where and when will practices be held?
Practices will be scheduled and held at Sports Force Parks on the synthetic turf. While training and playing on the turf will have a certain advantage for our teams, not all of the games we will play away from Sports Force Parks will have this advantage. Coaches from time to time may schedule practices at other locations so that the players can train on natural grass and develop skills to be competitive on different paying surfaces.
Will there be a charge for attendees when scheduled league games are at Sports Force Parks?
No. There will be communication about entering the park to play league games on days that there may be scheduled tournaments at the park. Spectators will be responsible for gate fees if the team is playing in a scheduled tournament at Sports Force Parks.
Will I still have to purchase uniforms on top of the fees?
Yes, a link will be sent to you after registration.
How many tournaments will we play in?
At a minimum, every team will participate in the two home tournaments: Cedar Point Coaster Classic and Kalahari Cup. In addition to these tournaments, teams may have the opportunity to participate in other tournaments at Sports Force Parks and other venues throughout the spring and fall seasons.
Every team may participate in a minimum of one away tournament. The tournament will vary based on the age group, but will be selected based on the registered teams, travel proximity, and opportunities for success. If a team wants to participate in more tournaments, an additional fee may be required.
Will it still be just a Fall and Spring season?
No, as part of the transition we will be adding a Winter season as well with a heavy emphasis on training. We have an indoor training facility on Sycamore Line that is used for training sessions, practices, and other activities.
Are there any opportunities for financial aid?
While there are costs to maintaining and growing the club, it is also important to growing the game that hardship not keep any player from participating. On a case by case basis, there are opportunities for financial aid with team fees.
